Vienna

Our arrival in Vienna started out rocky, but quickly turned into one of the nicests destinations on our trip so far. Our rental apartment misplaced the reservation we made back in November. After a couple hours wandering around the city with our backpacks, sitting on street curbs, and some mild worrying (completely on my end) we were relocated to one of their luxury aparments at no additional cost. I haven’t decided if I liked the free towels or the multiple chandeliers and fancy wall paper best… it can be a close tie.

We took advantage of our apartment kitchen to cook a majority of our meals so we could afford to experience the lavish Viennese café culture.
A quick Google search led us to the historic Café Central, which is considered one of the most famous café in Vienna. Selecting desserts was definitely a “go big or go home” moment. I had my

mind narrowed in on getting the perfect Crisp Apple Strudel.
I did not get to try Schnitzel with Noodles, but they may still be time. I’m trying to convince the guys we need to take a day trip to Salzburg while we are in Germany. I don’t think they love The Sound of Music nearly as much as I do.
When we weren’t spending way too much money on desserts and fancy coffees, or listening to Mozart and Beethoven in our luxury apartment- Vienna is the capital of classical music afterall!- we enjoyed wandering through the city.

Some my favorite highlights of our three days in the city:

- St. Stephan’s Cathedral
- Rathaus– Vienna’s City Hall
- Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens– Austria’s most visited tourist attraction. The garden park has been open to the public since the 1770s. Both the palace and the gardens are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
- The Karlskirche – Also known as St. Charles Church
- The Austrian Parliament Building
-
Bird specimens at the museum Natural History Museum at the Imperial Palace of Vienna- Continuing our streak of luck, we had close to perfect weather during our stay, besides a rainy day spent here.
I hope the strudel was as good as it looks.
